Erase Logos, Text and Stamps From Your Own Pictures

You exported a photo with a test watermark still on it. A client sent back your design with a sample stamp across the middle. A date stamp from an old camera sits right on top of a family picture. These are the situations this tool is made for. You mark the unwanted logo or text, and the tool fills the area in using the pixels around it, so the picture looks clean again.

It’s one of the free helpers on Tool Hub Zone, and you can find more in our image tools section.

Steps to Remove a Watermark

  1. Upload your image from your phone or computer.
  2. Select the watermark area, such as a logo, text line, or date stamp.
  3. Run the tool and wait a few seconds for the fill to finish.
  4. Zoom into the preview, then download the cleaned picture.

How Watermark Removal Actually Works

There’s no magic involved. The tool uses a technique called inpainting. It looks at the textures and colors around the marked area and generates new pixels to cover it. Editors like Adobe Photoshop call a similar feature Content-Aware Fill. On a plain sky or a smooth wall, the result can look perfect. On a face, a patterned shirt, or a busy street, the filled spot may look smudged or repeated.

Legal and Fair Use: Please Read This

A watermark often exists because someone owns the picture. Photographers, stock sites such as Shutterstock and Getty Images, and artists use watermarks to protect their work. Removing one from an image you don’t own, and then using it, can break copyright law and the terms of the site you took it from. Use this tool only on images that belong to you, that you created, or that you have clear permission to edit. When in doubt, buy a license or ask the owner.

Good Reasons to Use This Tool

  • Your own watermark: You lost the unmarked original and only have the stamped copy.
  • Date stamps: Old film and compact cameras often burned the date into the corner.
  • Stray text or marks: Remove a caption, sticker, or scribble from a screenshot or scan.
  • Licensed images: You paid for a stock photo, but a preview version is all you saved.
  • Cleaning product shots: Remove a small label or price tag before listing an item.

What Gives the Cleanest Result

Small areas. A thin line of text is far easier to erase than a huge logo across the whole picture.

Simple backgrounds. Sky, grass, walls, and gradients hide the repair well.

Tight selection. Mark only the watermark. A selection that covers too much forces the tool to invent more detail.

High resolution. More pixels give the fill more to work with. Very large files can be shrunk first with the Image Compressor.

Semi-transparent marks. These are usually easier than solid ones, because some of the original picture still shows through.

When the Result Looks Off

If the repaired area looks blurry, run the tool again on a smaller selection, or erase the mark in two or three small steps. For a watermark sitting on top of a person or an object, you may be better off cropping the picture. If you want the subject on a clean backdrop instead, try Remove Background. Always keep your original file, since edits can’t be undone once you save over it.

Is there a file size limit?
Some tools may have a limit on file size. The limit, if any, is mentioned on this page.
